Hello! I'm Ed (about me) - a children's entertainer and professional magician available in Sutton Coldfield! And I'm here to make your next party or event amazing!
Sutton Coldfield is my area, or at least that's what it feels like. I know there are many great children's entertainers in Sutton Coldfield and kids party companies local to the area, but I've been performing in Sutton Coldfield since 2001, and I really feel like I've performed at every church hall, community centre and party venue in the area. At this rate, I'll have taken my magic party show to every street soon, too.

As I mentioned, I’ve performed at all sorts of children’s parties and family events in the Sutton Coldfield area. Here are just some of the events that stand out to me.
Magic Party in a Sweet Shop
Between 2012 and 2016, I performed as the resident magician at Treat Street, a sweet shop on the High Street in Boldmere. I loved performing here both for events organised by Treat Street and for private bookings such as birthday parties who had hired the space. In the latter case, I was directly recommended by the owners of the venue, which must mean that I was doing something good, right!? Unfortunately, the relationship ended when the venue changed owners, and it’s a bit like when a football club changes managers, they bring in their own people in. That’s a shame as when I get to know a venue, things become more familiar and the show improves because of it.
Ed has entertained at many of our parties and family days. He is a great magician, very funny, very reliable and the kids love him!

School Magic Show Sutton Coldfield
In June 2021, I performed my first BIG magic show after lockdown which was a large show for sixty children age seven (year 2). The show took place in the school hall, and was a lot of fun with lots of laughter, and interaction. It was great to get back to performing a large show after so many online shows, and smaller garden parties. My BIG shows for schools can suit a large audience and mixed ages and is a popular choice that I am booked for often across Sutton Coldfield.
The client even left this review for me afterwards.
The kids had a fab time! The parents reported that too. We were all very impressed too! It was a great finish to their time at the school and very memorable.

Magic Party Sutton Coldfield
In July 2019, I provided my magic party package which includes party games, a magic show, balloon modelling and much more for a 6th birthday party at a private home in Sutton Coldfield. I often provide this party package at one of the community centres, village halls or other party venues in Sutton Coldfield, however, I realise that every child is different and some just feel more comfortable at home. Luckily, my show can stretch out for large venues or shrink up for small venues. I’m pleased to say that the party was a huge success and after the event the client who hired me to run the party sent me this great review afterwards.

Sutton Coldfield Children’s Entertainer
Sutton Coldfield Children’s EntertainerAs I’ve written elsewhere on my site, there are lots of great party venues within the Sutton Coldfield area. If you’re struggling to find one get in touch and I’ll help you, or you can look at the party venues list I created. One venue that I can highly recommend is All Saints Parish Church, Foley Road East, Streetly. This venue in Streetly is, in my opinion, the perfect venue for children's birthday parties in Sutton Coldfield. As a children’s entertainer, I appreciate that there is plenty of parking. That helps me as I need to bring in lots of magic tricks and party equipment. As well as space outside, there is a lot of space inside for the party games that I play. Children love to run around and dance to the music I play, so it’s always great when we can do that. As well as my party games entertainment, my full party package also includes a magic show and balloon modelling. I’ve performed my magic show and party entertainment in Streetly on many occasions and I always enjoy returning to All Saints Parish Church, for the reasons I’ve written about above.
Magic Show Family Entertainment
I’m sometimes asked to provide entertainment at a family restaurant, and in November 2018, I performed in a hired space at the Plough & Harrow, Slade Road, in Sutton Coldfield. This event was a First Birthday Party and was for a group of children of various ages. These family events are great fun for everyone and I always make sure that I include magic that appeals to all ages and to the parents too. Looking at the review below, I think I managed to do that successfully.
My husband and I booked Ed for our little girls first birthday party at a pub in Sutton Coldfield. Ed was amazing! Right from the start he had the children captivated, all joining in and laughing together. He was excellent value for money and went down a storm with the older children as well as the younger ones. Most importantly though he was BRILLIANT with the children. I have never seen children of that age sit still for so long!

Sutton Coldfield Summer Show
In August 2017, I actually hired St. Chad’s Church Hall, Hollyfield Road, Sutton Coldfield for my own event. I also asked another local children’s entertainer to attend and together we hosted a large magic show as a way to give back to the community. It was a way for me to thank others for booking me and to reach out to people who might be interested in hiring children’s entertainers in the Sutton Coldfield area in the future. Of course, I gave the tickets away for free, and it was an enjoyable day with lots of giggles, smiles and of course, magic! Just take a look at these photos for a taste of what the day was like.
We attending your show yesterday and I just wanted to write to say thank you. My kids loved seeing your show and my son really enjoyed helping out on the stage. It was a great afternoon, and we would love to come along to the next one too.

Sutton Coldfield Theatre Show
Sutton Coldfield Theatre ShowThere are lots of different types of kids party entertainers, but as a professional magician, my natural home is the theatre. That’s why I was pleased to be hired to perform at the Little Arts Theatre in Sutton Coldfield in 2016. In actual fact, I didn’t perform on the stage on this occasion but for a children’s birthday party taking place in one of the rooms available to hire. It was great to bring some theatrical flair to my magic show though and I hope to return to the venue in the future and host a show on the theatre stage.
Christening Repeat Bookings
When you work for yourself as I do, it can sometimes be difficult to know whether you’re doing a good job or not. There’s no feedback from a boss (but maybe that’s a good thing!) Anyway, one of the ways I measure my success is where my event enquiries and bookings are coming from. Of course, I will always get some events through people searching for children’s entertainers in Sutton Coldfield or kids entertainers, but in July 2015 I had a run of events that were all linked together. It began with a children’s magic show for a Christening at Sutton Coldfield Golf Club, Thornhill Road. One of the guests there then hired me for their child’s Christening a few months later in September at The Royal Hotel, now known as The Townhouse and situated on the High Street. I was back at the same hotel only a month later in October as the venue staff had caught part of my magic show and recommended me for another Christening client. The children enjoyed the entertainment each time and after the October event, I was hired for a 5th birthday party at a home in Sutton Coldfield during January 2016. I may have had longer chains than this, but this is one that I have specifically been able to measure.
I’m pleased to say that even those the events mentioned above were from 2015, I still get a lot of referrals and word of mouth events to this day.
Ed performed a fantastic show, which was enjoyed by all ages at our christening! Ed was great with the children and my niece now wants to be a magician! Thank you for a great time!

Sutton Coldfield Magic Show
In March 2015, I performed my magic show at a party at the client’s home. This was a 5th birthday party for a young girl. The birthday child's parents were kind enough to let me film part of the show, and so I’ve included some of that footage below. As you can see the children had a great time and really got involved with show. That’s the secret that makes my magic work, by the way. It’s not just my show, it’s our show.
Streetly Children’s Entertainer
As well as Sutton Coldfield, I also perform in nearby Streetly, just as I did in November 2014 where I provided my full party package for an 8th birthday party at Streetly Community Centre, Sutton Coldfield. This party was Harry Potter themed and I made sure to weave that in throughout the party games and magic show. As the children were a little older my routines changed slightly to take that into account. You might be surprised but it’s largely the same as the routine for younger children, but some of the jokes and the way that I say them are adapted to this older audience. That’s a great thing as it gives me security in the technical side of the performance (and the older children really want to figure out how it works), but it also gives me the flexibility to have fun with the performance. Sutton Coldfield Family Party
Sutton Coldfield Family PartySutton Coldfield Tennis Club, Highbridge Road is a great venue for family events. I performed here during 2014, where I entertained the children and adults at a first birthday. For the children, I provided a 45 minute magic show followed by balloon modelling. Then after a short break for food, I went round to each group and performed close up magic. I find that not many people consider this option but it works really well for family events, as we can make sure everyone is entertained and we can do so even while other entertainment (such as music) is going on in the background.
Sutton Coldfield Children’s Birthday Party Entertainment
In October 2013, I provided entertainment at a 6th birthday party at St. Chad’s Church Hall, Hollyfield Road. As I’ve mentioned elsewhere on my site, it’s a great party venue that I can recommend. This was the first time I visited it, and I remember it was raining hard. Funny the things you remember, right? Inside though there was plenty of warmth and fun times with my music party games, magic show and balloon modelling.
End of Term School Entertainment
As well as birthday parties and family events, I’m often asked to perform magic for schools. In July 2013, I provided a magic at Whitehouse Common Primary School, Cotysmore Road, Sutton Coldfield. Sometimes these school shows are to celebrate the end of term or the end of yea. Other times they take place at Christmas, and sometimes they are a mini-prom for pupils who are leaving and are going on to high school. If I remember correctly, this event was a reward assembly for the children’s hard work. Hiring a kids magician was the reward, and I provided two shows during the afternoon. One for the lower school, and one for the upper. At other schools, I’ve provided a whole school show. Nursery Magic Shows
In March 2013, I provided a special show at Rowan Day Nursery in Sutton Coldfield. My magic for nurseries is a gentler version of my show, and often I cut it down from 45 minutes to 30 minutes. However, I do find that nurseries and schools enjoy my magic, and there are even some that book me every single year, which shows that I must be doing something right.
Children’s company party
The Belfry is a high-end venue that you might not associate as somewhere for a children’s party. In fact, I’ve performed at the Belfry in my role as a close-up magician (you can read more about that here). However, in May 2011, I performed there for the birthday party of a company. The company served families and many of its staff were families too. It, therefore, made sense that they celebrated with their children. I provided a magic show and balloon modelling within one of the suites there. And I kept the music playing for the whole party throughout the day. It was a great party,
