As I mentioned, I’ve performed at all sorts of children’s parties and family events in the Solihull area. Here are just some of the events that stand out to me.
Brownies Magic Show, Solihull
As well as providing magic at birthday parties, one of the other options for magic is magic at youth groups such as Brownies, Scouts, etc. Recently I provided magic for a Brownies group. This wasn't for a specific skill session, or to gain a badge, but was simply as a treat for the group. After their flag raising ceremony at the start of their meeting, I took up the rest of the time with an incredible magic show, and then an introduction to magic workshop. We even managed to squeeze in time for the young people to come up to the front and perform a quick magic trick or joke to the whole group. This was really good as it allowed them the chance to let their personality shine!
7th Birthday Party, Solihull
This show was at Dorridge Village Hall, and was for a 7th birthday party. I actually specialise in magic for older children, from age 7 +. That means in my show you won't see brightly coloured, babyish magic with handkerchiefs and colouring books, and instead you get smart modern magic that is appropriate to older children, and a chatty almost stand up comedy for kids vibe. I've found that this is really popular for older children's birthday parties, and in fact after this event, I got the feedback you can see below.

Magician in the Audience - an embarrassing story!
This is a really embarrassing story, but ok here goes, I'll tell it anyway. I was once hired to perform my birthday party show at a house party near to Solihull, and as I was setting up, I noticed a magician I knew of, but hadn't met before. I introduced myself and we exchanged a few friendly words, keeping the conversation light and professional. When the show began, I slipped up on a subtle detail that only a magician would notice. Thanks to years of practice, I quickly recovered, turning the moment into a spontaneous bit of fun that kept the audience engaged. After the performance, the other magician complimented me but mentioned the hiccup, and for a moment felt kinda bad, until I remembered that I had in fact left the guests buzzing after the show.
Not Your Average Show, Solihull
Sometimes you get requests that are a bit outside of the standard birthday party show. That was the case with this event. It was a show for children with additionl needs. Of course, I'm happy to adapt my show to others requirements, and in this case it meant not playing any loud music at the start of the show, and being flexible to stop the show half way if needed. My show is always flexible to the world that's going on around me. There's no point ploughing through the show if everyone is distracted by something else. I did have to stop this show once for a short break, but my big memory from this show was when a young person, who I think was about age 13, opened their hand to find that a sponge ball had jumped from my hand to theirs, and immediately ran off the stage shouting "Mum, I did the magic!" It's important to remember that what seems like a simple trick to me (because I've done it 1000 times), can still have a powerful effect on someone seeing it for the first time.
My magic shows for older children, teens, and families are packed with jaw dropping magic and interactive (often improvised) comedy. It's the perfect entertainment for birthday parties, family events, community events, schools, and festivals. I mainly cover Stafford, Lichfield, Staffordshire, Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham, Wolverhampton, West Midlands, and East Midlands, but I can travel across the UK.
